What Does It Take to Be a Homeopath?

What does it take to be a homeopath? We often think of those in the healing arts as equivalent to the medical profession and being a doctor; after all, we are helping people with their acute and chronic medical issues as well as their mental and emotional challenges. But being a homeopath requires much more than being a medical doctor. Because the allopathic medical model is built on a materialistic premise, the whole of modern medicine is based on diagnosis and physical treatment by drugs, surgery or radiations.

Homeopathy is based on a spiritual, non-physical premise and requires that the homeopath see the patterns of the physical expression to understand the dis-ease. It is not based on a diagnosis but on a collective understanding of the person's symptoms and deviations from health. This makes the homeopathic "diagnosis" somewhat less diagnostic and more of a synthesis in the understanding of the person. Luckily we have the person's vital force showing us constantly their...

How to Approach Your Homeopathic Education

I get many questions about the study of Homeopathy and what is the best approach. I think it could be an individual preference but after training homeopaths since 2001, I have found that there are a few things about homeopathic education that really work. I would like to share them with you.

I have found that if a person wants to be a professional homeopath, seeing clients on a daily basis, they must really love people and being around them. This may sound a bit absurd at first. After all, it isn't the job of the homeopath to be around people and help them. Yes, but you might be surprised at how many students I have talked with that have spent 3 years at some other homeopathic school and have never taken a case or spent time with clients. When they were finally introduced to a new client case they were surprised at their own reaction. I have heard everything from fear in front of the client because they did not have confidence in being a homeopath ( they have never done it before)...

Licensing and Certification in the USA

The most common question I receive is about getting certified in homeopathy and being able to practice legally. Certification and licensing are completely different in Homeopathy. Certification is to certify. It amounts to attesting to something. Certification can come from any school or certifying organization as to certifying the completion of a course or educational requirements.

Along with certification, there is usually a title or credential that the applicant will have earned. There are many titles in circulation today that schools and organizations have created to attest to their applicant's successful completion of the requirements. These certified credentials are not recognized by any State or Federal Regulating Body and only serve to bring legitimacy to the Homeopath.

The title most recognized in the world is RSHom. It comes from the Registered Society of Homeopaths in the UK. This title is the oldest and most respected title and is used by more Classical...

The Importance of a Mentor

Having a mentor is one of the best ways to accelerate your homeopathic learning. It is an integral part of our program at the Resonance School of Homeopathy. It is the best way to get the personal guidance necessary to avoid the bigger mistakes and errors made by the novice homeopath.

We all have to start somewhere. There has to be that first case we receive as a homeopath. Not having participated in this role before can be quite unnerving for the new homeopathic student or homeopath. If the program for learning has not included case receiving as a major part of the learning process, then the student will usually be lost in the process and this lack of confidence will be known by all.

Having confidence and knowing how to communicate with the client is key to a successful case. It is an art to be able to sit with someone and know how to get them to open up and reveal what is asking to be healed. Once this process is complete, then the task of case analysis and...
